Next Year's Camp

[livejournal.com profile] nopseud and I have been on an Exploratory Trip to Yorkshire and have found an excellent (we're reasonably sure) cottage for us.

We need to book it *soon*.

And we have a question about dates. We could go for the week starting 30th June or 14th July, either of which would cost £2,800. This would mean a price increase of around £30 per person, depending on how many attend (which for the non-Brits among you will probably be irrelevant considering the way the pound is going). Or, we could go for a week in September at only £1,900, which is less than The Ship. It's just as likely we'll have pleasant weather in September as in July, so what mostly matters is when you guys can attend Camp.

[Poll #2057006]

NB There isn't time for an extended discussion of the nuances of when Camp should be - the cottage is filling up fast and we want to get it booked. Please fill in the poll as soon as you can, and prod everyone to make sure they also respond!

Whether I can attend obviously depeds on whether I can get the time off work then, but that should be pretty likely.
I didn't check September, because most of September is vacation stop at work, but depending on when in September (right at the beginning, maybe at the very end) it might work too. Didn't check it, since that's pretty unsure.

Unfortunately it looks like it would be the week starting Fri the 15th. The first two weeks in September have been booked by someone since the poll went up.

I can definitely say that that week won't work at all, alas!

I've voted for September because I'm planning another London trip then (I got Cursed Child tickets), and end September would probably work out better for me. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to make it if it were in June or July as I've very limited time off :/

There's only one week in September still available now (two booked since the poll went up) so if we go for September it will be the week starting Fri 15th.

That would work nicely actually!

I think any of those dates would be doable for me, and I have no preferences. Whatever works for more people.

I'm going to a wedding in Italy at the beginning of September, so as long as the Camp is not that week, I should be able to go. Getting time off in September shouldn't be an issue.

The summer camps will be harder, as both are within the time window when most people ask for holiday. So the company will assign holidays based on request, and you learn if you got your wish I believe by the beginning of May.

Since I can come at pretty much anytime the reasonwhy I would prefer to go in September is simply because it's my favourite month and I've never been in the UK then :-)

Actually week of 1th of Sept might work really well for me

Have we come to any decision? June 30th is my only choice and if that's it, I'll need to extend my holiday by a week, which I'd need to do as soon as possible. However judging by the poll and the conversations I've been having, June 30th doesn't seem to quite fit, so I might be overthinking this. :D

Yeah, flying back and forth to Europe every two months is unfortunately only for the rich!

I'm a little confused as to why September when July has more people who are both able to come and more people who would prefer it?

Oh alright :)) Thanks for getting back! :)

I really hope this doesn't come across as rude and ungrateful, but I just wanted to say that I care much less about the house and the location of it than I do about the people who can come to camp. We should probably try and set aside some time for a discussion re: Camp timing in the future. Please do know I really, really appreciate all the work you do each year to organise this, just wanted to put that out there.
