Camp Sparkle Recap

Oh my loves, I don't even know where to start.

Warning. I use LOTS of brackets. (Or parentheses, if you want to be all grammatically correct.)

Okay, how to start. I was so very excited to meet everyone and so goddamn nervous! Twenty-odd popslashers, all in one house for a week, of whom I had met exactly three before. And here's me with my distinct lack of social skills - part of me was looking forward to a week of pure squee with awesome people, and part of me was expecting to stand on the sidelines for a whole week, unable to start a conversation. Thank God, the paranoid bit of me was WRONG. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and sweet and funny that it was impossible NOT to get involved in conversations, right from the very start. Right from before we even got on the train, in fact.

If I do this by day it's going to go on for ever and ever and ever, and I'm not sure my brain can sort it by day either - I spent too much time sleeping at random weird times and being high on Way Too Much Sugar (Way Too Much Sugar was a definite feature of the week). So there are going to have to be highlights, which included:

All the footage in the world EVER. (Actually, I think not. There is LOTS of footage in the world.) There was lots of stuff I hadn't seen before - loads and LOADS of Backstreet stuff, plus the Much Music interviews with 'N Sync, and a bunch of MTV making-ofs, loads of footage from their visit or visits (?) to Japan (including some stuff where Justin looks really ill. Like, zombie!Justin) and some MMC stuff, and Driven. (My God, Justin Timberlake was never a child.) There was also lots of stuff I had seen before (The Reel 'N Sync! And No Strings Attached looks quite different on a big screen... or rather, I'd never actually noticed the Obvious Joy in the Shiny Red Pants Of Obvious Joy before... wow.)

Games, games, games! Sparkly Cluedo, Crude-O and regular Clue - actually, it was more "sleep-deprived sugar-high Clue with musical renditions of Space Cowboy" - were all fantastic fun. And then there was the Buffy RPG, played with [livejournal.com profile] turps33 and run by [livejournal.com profile] ninjetti75, which was totally, one hundred per cent awesome. (Not only does it suck that I'm not going to see so many awesome people for another year, but one of the best GMs I know has gone back to the States! Sigh.) I played Corporal Joey Fatone and Terri played Dr Chris Kirkpatrick, and we had actual in-game Choey, which, thanks to a long break for out-of-game chatting, ended up with them making out in an elevator for an hour and a half. [grin] Joey got to be a bona fide hero and kill lots of stuff with rib-spreaders! It was Terri's first ever RPG too, and she was SUCH fun to play with, it's not even true.

Dancing around the kitchen to someone's awesome Pop playlist. As soon as I have my Backstreet CDs, I'm going to make one of those myself. Bounce!

Winchester, which was particular fun for all the Supernatural fans out there. Also included a 13th century version of the Round Table, which was very pretty indeed. And [livejournal.com profile] iconis breaking out into "Do Run Run" at inappropriate moments, which was awesome (do-do-do-do YEAH).

The cracked-out-beyond-all-belief five-word story. Jeeeeeeeesus! What with Sparkly Cluedo, Crude-O, goat felching, senortia, and that story, we win at crack.

People who rock included: all of you. [passes around a million hugs]

I'm sure there's a milion more things I haven't remembered? It's all a bit of a blur of joy and sugar and pop boys...

Best holiday ever. I love you guys!

Um. The end.

PS: I missed the communal viewing of "On The Line" because I was playing Buffy, so I watched it by myself last night - it wasn't nearly so much fun! I had to make all the stupid comments myself!
