It's time for that post again, where I ask you - what would you like as 'formal' discussion topics during Camp Sparkle? I think our discussions last time went really well, and I'm hoping turloughishere or someone equally capable will moderate as before. But we'll need some topics!

Suggestions, please! (And do feel free to add approval to any suggestions someone else has made.)

What about a discussion of the fourth wall? I remember Terri saying that she thought this would be an interesting topic for a discussion and I suggested that we have one at Camp Sparkle.

I second this, especially as Backstreet are now twittering away. It makes me wonder if one day one of them will comment on a fic, start replying to comments at a comm, or ask to be mod at a fan created comm.

It is, and a thought that would have never crossed my mind before, but things are changing all the time.

The thought of any of them seeing stuff like that gives me the motts.

As long as they're doing it of their own free will it doesn't bother me at all. (People actively shoving it in their faces now, that's a completely different matter.) I was more thinking of how fandom would react. And I don't know if I believe any of them have the necessary qualifications to become a comm mod ;-)

Maybe something abou fanvids? Although I don't think we're many who make them, so that might not work.

I always love when we talk about past or future story ideas. Maybe a Plot Swapping kind of thing where we can lay out ideas for others to adopt?

As I've just come back from a convention where there were lots of possibilities, including some demos - how about you do a 'tutorial' or demonstration or talk on what it takes to make a fanvid? It's a form of fan creativity I don't know much about, but a lot of fanvids become truly *beloved* within fandoms, and it'd be really interesting to get a look at why the good ones work and what's wrong with ones that don't, quite, have that effect.

It does kinda involve you, and anyone you can co-opt, in rather a lot of homework! But it would be cool.

Nick would be an AWESOME mod. And here I'm defining awesome as 'the comm would on fandom_wank ALL THE TIME'.

And a comm is the perfect place for it, as everyone can be shown the vids and turtorial stuff at the same time.

Joining in, I LOVE the idea of a tutorial of some sort, as vidding is something I've been wanting to try and fail miserably when I start. [laughs]

I just had an idea for something, and rushed over before I forgot to wruite it down.

People come up with a short description of their favourite type of story (something like "My favourite kind of story is a first-time Trickyfish, with lots of misunderstandings and humour", or "I love historical AUs", or "My favourite stories all have one of the boys taking care of another, but not really hardcore hurt/comfort, more a gentle domestic atmosphere") and also bring along three or four recs for awesome examples of that type, and tell everyone what's so great about those stories. It would be nice if people could print out at least some of the stories in question, so other people can read them if the description was particularly enticing.

For reasons I shall prod my Beast into investigating tomorrow, I can't send email at the moment - how are we doing for registrations? I have to send £800 to Ebenezer Chapel by the end of the week... so I'd just like to be sure we're okay for Campers.
