Camp Sparkle - the Arrangements!

Part two: things to do

I really enjoyed our semi-formal discussions last time, and am hoping we shall prevail upon [livejournal.com profile] turloughishere to repeat her excellent modding performance.

Let's start with something very sparkly for Saturday morning: crack. Indeed, what could be more appropriate?

What is Crack!fic? Can it be defined or is it, like porn, an I know it when I see it deal? Is it style or content or something else? What is the *best* crack!fic you've read?

Also, I have the *impression* that there is a lot more crack!fic around in Nsync stories than in BSB ones... The Nsync boys seem to be more likely to turn into animals, furniture, girls or one another. Now, that may be my inexperience at ferreting out Backstreet fic talking, not an actual reflection of How Things Are—but, if that rings true for you guys, we could talk about why that might be. Is it the canon, or the fandom, or...?

After lunch on Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] bubbleforest has offered to do Something About Vids, which I'm very much looking forward to seeing.

For Sunday, I feel there is little that aids the digestion of breakfast so much as Awesome Fic. The idea is this:

People come up with a short description of their favourite type of story (something like "My favourite kind of story is a first-time Trickyfish, with lots of misunderstandings and humour", or "I love historical AUs", or "My favourite stories all have one of the boys taking care of another, but not really hardcore hurt/comfort, more a gentle domestic atmosphere") and also bring along three or four recs for awesome examples of that type, and tell everyone what's so great about those stories. It would be nice if people could print out at least some of the stories in question, so other people can read them if the description was particularly enticing. Oh, yes, definitely.

Sometime in the afternoon we can turn our attention to a discussion of the Fourth Wall. Backstreet are Twittering, and [livejournal.com profile] nopseud, [livejournal.com profile] ephemera, [livejournal.com profile] bun18 and I *heard* Justin on the radio saying he'd Googled himself and was "so frightened by what he found..." *cue shrieks of horror* How would we as fans react if the boys, various, get a bit too close to us?

For the rest of the week, I suggest a fairly casual exploration of the territory immediately around Ebenezer Chapel on the Monday (if the weather's nice), plus whatever takes our fancy indoors (which will certainly include [livejournal.com profile] ninjetti75's Awesome Games. Tuesday and Wednesday we have trips, and we could probably go somewhere on Thursday if anyone wants to and has the strength.

There must also be Footage! I should very much like to watch "Little Red Riding Hood" in company; what other nominations do we have? Are we going to inflict "Harry and Max" on the hapless newcomers? And did anyone manage to come up with a selection of the good stuff about their favourite boybander?

If anyone has alternative suggestions for discussions, do say!

Also, is there any reliable general weather forecast? Warm, cold, sunny, rain?

I checked via Yahoo Weather and it seems to say around 15 C but who knows how reliable that is, and also it's only a five-day forecast.

Thanks! :D

:P hahaha, I'll just 'what if' pack, then.

I've found that discussions intimidate me beforehand but then when people start talking it's hard to shut me up. :D All of this sounds really interesting and I second nominating [livejournal.com profile] turloughishere for a mod. :)

Re footage:

I just got two DVDs in the mail today from [livejournal.com profile] breny: Celebrity tour bootlegs and the official CFTC DVD. I haven't watched them yet, and I can bring them with me if other people haven't seen them either?

I also have collected some footage on a memory stick, for example MMC JC stuff.

And the reel nsync is a must, of course. And MSG.

Yeah, bootlegs can be a bit tiresome. But this one actually has surprisingly good picture and audio! And some fabulous choreography. So, perhaps not the whole thing, but maybe a couple of songs. I just thought it's something most people probably haven't seen.

I haven't watched the CFTC dvd yet (apart from checking that it works) but we can give it a go!

Just fast forwarded through the CB tour dvd, and listed 7 songs that I think might be worth watching, if there's interest. But at least it's been prescreened now! :D

Also elaborating on other footage I collected:
- MMC JC clips ~25min
- On the Line JoLa ~40min
- TV Guide Joey interview 2008 ~35min
- BSB MTV diary 2005 ~20min

They don't need to be scheduled, but I thought somebody might want to know.

I can bring my DVDs as usual? A Night Out, Around The World, Chapter One, Homecoming, The Hollow, etc. And I'll be bringing my external for the vidding stuff anyway, and all my footage is on there.

I definitely never wanna miss The Reel NSync, and I'd love to watch Little Red Hiding Hood since I've never seen it before. It could maybe be cool if we try to match each piece of NSync footage for a Backstreet one? Not that they have to be similar in content, just so we're sure that there's something for everyone. Like, if we watch Madison Square Garden, then Homecoming or Around the World or whatever is the next one up?

Also, lastly, would anyone be willing to print the fics I'd like to rec out for me if I send them in advance? Because I really like the idea of printing favorite stories out, but my printer's busted. :/

I don't own a printer, but I AM bringing all the fic that I snagged with me last year and some fic that I've printed out earlier as well. :)

HUZZAH! I was worried those had gotten thrown out or something, that's awesome! :D There were a couple of them I never got around to reading.

I don't have all of them, I think [livejournal.com profile] iconis and/or [livejournal.com profile] rikes has some of them? But yes! I would never throw them out. :D

All of these sound like cool subjects for discussion and I'm certainly willing to play mod this year too.

Re games:

I hope whoever has it, is bringing Crude-O!

I have a nsync memory game. The cards are annoyingly tiny, but I feel it must be tried at least once! :D

Oooo, does anyone have *NSYNC UNO, justforthehellofit? UNO is awesome to play at wee hours of the morning when bizarre slaphappyness has set in! (Yes, that comes from firsthand experience, and I'm sure the Pixy Stix can only make it better! *g*)

[identity profile] ninjetti75.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry for the double-commenting, but I just wanted to make sure, so it's in both relevant posts:

It appears both my games and my dinner are scheduled for Monday...dinner won't take an enormous amount of prep time, but games can run for somewhat random amounts of time...does anyone want to swap places on the Chef Duty roster?

Oh, also, does anyone have the Around the World game? Because that stuff is incredibly easy but HILARIOUS.

According to this: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weather/maps/city?PLZ=DE56&PLZN=Belper&LANG=en&CEL=C&SI=mph&CONT=ukuk&LAND=MID®ION=0002&WMO=03354&LEVEL=52&R=0&NOREGION=0
the weather should be quite ok. At least I hope. Nothing can ruin Camp Sparkle! :D
