Camp Sparkle 2014

Pen and I have chosen the location for Camp Sparkle 2014, which will be held at The Ship Inn, in Old Colwyn, North Wales.

We'd like to pick the date and book ASAP. Many of the cool things to do and places to visit are outdoors up there, so we're looking at an early summer date again, in the hope of securing some decent weather. So we'd like to poll people to find when they can make it, and when they can't.

[Poll #1933829]

The week does affect the price a bit, so I've included that info below. To give you a comparison figure, Brighton this year cost £2500 for the week:

May 30 – Jun 06 - £1739
Jun 06 – Jun 13 - £1739
Jun 13 – Jun 20 - £1739
Jun 20 – Jun 27 - £1739
Jun 27 – Jul 04 - £2092
Jul 04 – Jul 11 - £2209

I could *possibly* make it happen if it was the latest possible date in July. I would LOVE to come next year. Two missed camps is too much.

I'll be unavailable that first week in July but I should be able to do anything else. Lovely part of Wales too, my dad lives nearby! I still have my massive supply of pixie stix from NY to share!

Earlier in June is better for me because high summer is my busiest season, but the most important thing is that Camp happens!

I would prefer the earlier date, as it is before the summer holiday starts for real, so should be easier to get the time off. But, I can probably get all of them to work (at least with my current job, if I change, and have it planned, they have to let me get the time off, right ;) )

Edit: Also loving the seven bathrooms, WiFi and Wii(!!!!!)

The place sounds awesome and it will be nice to know the date well in advance this time. Thank you for doing this once again! ♥

All those weeks are not very ideal for me. I'm at conventions during the first week and another con at the end of the last week. And in between the lady boss and co-workers have holidays planned. So, in any case it looks like that I'm probably not be able to join Camp for a whole week. I'm hoping that I at least can do a few days!

I vaguely prefer the last week though, because that con is in England (Birmingham) and I could combine that with Camp. Saving on plane tickets if I'm only going to the UK once instead of twice within a few short weeks!

Unfortunately I don't know whether or not I'll be able to take any of those weeks off until at least later this year (if not next year), due to a) other fannish events I am planning to go to, and b) whether or not work can spare me.

It would be lovely to go to Wales again though. The only time I was there was during the summer deluge of '07 when it was quite literally raining buckets everywhere! And I do love Llandudno to bits.

I can't get a workable calendar for the summer out of work, but based on past patterns, the first three weeks of June are my best bet.

Psst - you can probably ignore my response, as I'm fine with any of the weeks - I just wanted to have a look at the results! Second and third weeks of June look good, although several of the usual suspects don't seem to have replied at all.

If you click on the poll number and then on [ View Poll Results ] you can see the results without having to take the poll yourself.

Do we think everyone who's going to respond has now done so? Shall we just pick a week and go for it, or prod the others a bit first?
