Part two: things to do
I really enjoyed our semi-formal discussions last time, and am hoping we shall prevail upon
turloughishere to repeat her excellent modding performance.
Let's start with something very sparkly for Saturday morning: crack. Indeed, what could be more appropriate?
What is Crack!fic? Can it be defined or is it, like porn, an I know it when I see it deal? Is it style or content or something else? What is the *best* crack!fic you've read?
Also, I have the *impression* that there is a lot more crack!fic around in Nsync stories than in BSB ones... The Nsync boys seem to be more likely to turn into animals, furniture, girls or one another. Now, that may be my inexperience at ferreting out Backstreet fic talking, not an actual reflection of How Things Areābut, if that rings true for you guys, we could talk about why that might be. Is it the canon, or the fandom, or...?
After lunch on Saturday,
bubbleforest has offered to do Something About Vids, which I'm very much looking forward to seeing.
For Sunday, I feel there is little that aids the digestion of breakfast so much as Awesome Fic. The idea is this:
People come up with a short description of their favourite type of story (something like "My favourite kind of story is a first-time Trickyfish, with lots of misunderstandings and humour", or "I love historical AUs", or "My favourite stories all have one of the boys taking care of another, but not really hardcore hurt/comfort, more a gentle domestic atmosphere") and also bring along three or four recs for awesome examples of that type, and tell everyone what's so great about those stories. It would be nice if people could print out at least some of the stories in question, so other people can read them if the description was particularly enticing. Oh, yes, definitely.
Sometime in the afternoon we can turn our attention to a discussion of the Fourth Wall. Backstreet are Twittering, and
nopseud,
ephemera,
bun18 and I *heard* Justin on the radio saying he'd Googled himself and was "so frightened by what he found..." *cue shrieks of horror* How would we as fans react if the boys, various, get a bit too close to us?
For the rest of the week, I suggest a fairly casual exploration of the territory immediately around Ebenezer Chapel on the Monday (if the weather's nice), plus whatever takes our fancy indoors (which will certainly include
ninjetti75's Awesome Games. Tuesday and Wednesday we have trips, and we could probably go somewhere on Thursday if anyone wants to and has the strength.
There must also be Footage! I should very much like to watch "Little Red Riding Hood" in company; what other nominations do we have? Are we going to inflict "Harry and Max" on the hapless newcomers? And did anyone manage to come up with a selection of the good stuff about their favourite boybander?
If anyone has alternative suggestions for discussions, do say!
