Transport, the arrangements

Okay, this gets more complicated every year!

I think what we're doing is as follows. Please check that I have got your details correct, and let me know if there's anything wrong.


Collecting:

Rikes and Iconis from Stansted on Wednesday afternoon - flight lands at?

Ninjetti from Heathrow on Thursday morning - flight lands 11.15am

Fadedsouls will be landing at Gatwick and getting the train to St Albans. As I'll be at Heathrow, you'll then have to get the bus from the railway station, and Rikes and Iconis can lurk at the bus stop so that you know when to get off.

Turlough from Stansted on Thursday evening - flight lands at? (nb it's quite possible that my Beast will have to do this pickup as I have a rehearsal that evening)

Friday morning,

Rikes, Iconis, Ninjetti, Fadedsouls, Turlough and I will set off in the minibus.

We collect Chalcopyrite from Stansted - flight lands at?

We go off to Cambridge to punt along the backs and have something to eat, and then proceed to Alfreton, probably in time to have allowed Nopseud and Trumpeterofdoom to do the shopping already, but if the weather is too unpleasant to make punting fun, probably not.

Beast then collects Fleurrochard (lands 1520) and Bettina (lands 1745) from Stansted at approx 1800. I will lend him my tiara so that you will recognise him as your driver, but in case he chickens out of wearing it, we'll make sure he has a Camp Sparkle sign. Car proceeds to Alfreton in time for supper.

Stellamira and Saba, Nopseud and Turps, Titch, Trumpeterofdoom and Ephemera are making arrangements to get there which do not involve the minibus or Beast. Correct?


On the way home:

Minibus needs to leave Beech Hill House at 0930, takes Bettina, Saba and Chalcopyrite to Stansted.

Fadedsouls, Turlough, Iconis, Rikes and Fleurrochard come back to my Nest.

Fadedsouls gets a lift to St Albans railway station sometime that afternoon for the train to Gatwick.

Car takes Ninjetti to Heathrow.

Not sure whether Trumpeterofdoom will go in the car and spend the afternoon wandering around Heathrow, or in the minibus back to my house with a lift to Heathrow at about (?) 6pm. The former is less driving for me, the latter is more fun for Trumpeterofdoom!

On Saturday, the car (probably driven by Beast, who is good in the mornings) takes Turlough, Rikes and Iconis to Stansted at an ungodly hour.

Car driven at a more reasonable hour by me takes Fleurrochard to Stansted. Or we may be very cruel and require her to get up for the early trip.


Have I got everyone covered who needs to be?

No, no, I expected more, really - we may be a bit late getting to you, as leaving HH before nine just means sitting in a long queue trying to get out, but it'll give you time to get off the plane and into the country.

I do not mind waiting one bit! What say I get into the terminal, I'll check arrivals *just* in case you beat me there, then just park myself out front (barring hideous weather and/or smokers in unusual numbers)?

It takes about an hour - but in fact, the minibus is being delivered to me that morning, so I'm kinda at the mercy of when they choose to bring it round before we can even leave, which I had forgotten. Intersperse the coffees with visits to the loo and all will be well. We can get someone to phone you and say when we're close.

Irritatingly, I think it's going to be around 11 o'clock before we get to you. Possibly later. I originally booked the minibus to be delivered at 10am, assuming there'd be a more-or-less lunchtime collection of you all - and when I phoned to say, could I please have it an hour earlier, the jobsworth on the phone said, ooh, no, can't change the booking, not at this short notice. I mean, I offered to go and collect the thing, but no. Pah.

Stay inside and be comfortable, and we'll call you when we're getting near.

My understanding of my part in the proceedings is as follows:

I have no airport pickups this year.

I'm collecting JM from Leicester station at 8:30pm on Wednesday. Ephemera is arriving...somewhere near me sometime on Thursday evening. I'll drive them up to Alfreton on Friday afternoon, and perform shopping.

I'll be collecting Titch from the station at Alfreton at 6pm on Friday.

On the final Friday, I'm taking Stellamira back to my house, and then dropping her at Hinckley station later in the day.


Other collection trips that need to be made are Stellamira from Derby sometime on Saturday evening, and Ephemera delivered to a station somewhere on Sunday evening.

I'll probably suggest he comes in to the Arrivals area. That way fleurrochard can sit in reasonable comfort and have a coffee or three while waiting for you, and probably meet up with the strange man in the tiara before you actually emerge!

But we'll do an exchange-phone-numbers post in a day or so to give us all useful backups.

Well, my flight itinerary isn't telling me terminals, but I'm sure it will be Terminal 3 for an international flight, as usual. My flight number is United 938.
