[personal profile] pensnest posting in [community profile] campsparkle
I thought it might be useful to clarify what we're likely to be doing at Camp. No doubt some of the details need to be refined - more suggestions for any of the activities are very welcome, and please volunteer for chef duty when you think it works for you. I'll edit the post as people sign up. Remember, it takes a *long* time to cook for seventeen people, so it's probably ideal if people who aren't going on the outings do the cooking on those evenings, if possible.

As far as I remember, [livejournal.com profile] chalcopyrite and [livejournal.com profile] ephemera are vegetarians, [livejournal.com profile] turlough is trying to avoid gluten, and [livejournal.com profile] trumpeterofdoom does not eat beef. Anyone else have dietary needs to be considered?

Suggestions for activities and discussion topics welcomed! Also, requests for footage. What about evening watching? I'll compile a list of requests and add it to this post.

Camp Schedule!

Friday evening

Dinner: [livejournal.com profile] pensnest Pies and Death Cake

Footage? Requests in comments!

Saturday

Talky time: discussion of

(morning) How has our fandom changed since Camp began?

(afternoon) Writing stuff:

Suggestions so far are:
- How Are The Stories You Like To Write & The Ones You Like To Read Similar, And How Are They Different?
- how one goes about world-building.
- how we go about our SeSa assignments
- bulletproof kinks in stories - what grabs you even in a not-very-good story?
- what don't you like about your own writing, and can anyone advise on how to change it?

Sunday

Outing to Hardwick Hall

Dinner:

Monday

A games day? Hot tubbing and general natter? Footage as determined by whoever has some/makes the right requests? Preparation and decoration of sparkly gingerbread dancing boys?

Dinner: [livejournal.com profile] chalcopyrite, pudding by [livejournal.com profile] pensnest

Tuesday

Outing to Sudbury Hall and the National Museum of Childhood

Return in time to get ourselves smartened up a bit for
pre-dinner cocktails (yes? no?)
and
[livejournal.com profile] nopseud's Birthday Feast

Wednesday

Possible outing to Nottingham or York? Alternatively, Camp Sparkle Cribs! (Does anyone have a video recorder?)

Dinner: probably [livejournal.com profile] ninjetti75

Thursday

Possible outing to Nottingham or York? Alternatively, Camp Sparkle Cribs! (Does anyone have a video recorder?)

Dinner: probably Leftovers and Pizza (etc)

Friday

Departure, woe!

Note: I am happy to produce cheesecake on any of the days we don't have an Outing involving the minibus, so if you don't fancy making dessert but will happily do Dinner, let me know.

I hope another dramatic reading of the lava lamp story can happen.

Diet things, I only like chicken meat wise, but that's a preference more than anything so no allowances need to be made.

Also, my cooking skills remain low, but I am happy to assist anyone that wants me.

Still a pesky vegetarian. :D

I'll volunteer to cook Monday night (experimenting with cooking a night when I'm NOT out on a Sparkly Outing)! I can haul out Generic Pasta Sauce and Salad again, or I could probably manage something along the lines of a chicken/veggie stirfry & rice, though I'll need input on amounts for that.

Ceremonial viewing of Harry+Max? ::ducks and covers::

I'll happily help any and all chefs with dinner; I'm fairly handy with kitchen utensils when told what to do. :)

And I second [livejournal.com profile] chalcopyrite - there obviously needs to be a viewing of Harry + Max. I'd make it mandatory, too, were I an evil dictator. >:)

On to the food

The catering folks are arriving at 6:30 pm on Tuesday to get everything set up and cooked by 8:00. Drinks beforehand sounds good. I'm planning to buy some bubbly from Tescos -- plus probably some orange juice so people can have Bucks Fizz if they prefer that -- and if anyone mixes any particularly good cocktails we could pick up the ingredients for those at the same time.

I'd be happy to help in the kitchen, but would rather not be responsible for an entire meal.

I can get decent video on my camera, but do we have anyone who could edit it?

I'll happily help in the kitchen, but I don't think I could be the actual cook.

Diet things - I am pretty easy except that I don't like cheese. Pizza or lasagna or something like that is fine and yummy, but if the cheese is the/a main flavour, I probably won't like it. (I can just make myself a sandwich in that case, though!)

Also, I think Pirates of the Caribbean 4 starts next week - would there be any interest in watching it together?

I don't really want to be responible either but I've been thinking it would be fun to make that Thai chicken noodle thingy you got when you visited me that summer. Maybe we could be jointly responisble? It's fairly easy to make and most people I've served it to have liked it.

I will do anything to get to eat that again, so yes! :D IIRC it's quite quick to make too, so we could probably do it even if we're on the day's trip?

I can barely cook for myself, but I am quite happy to be a helper.

I could also volunteer to make some cupcakes one afternoon if that would be something people were interested in? I'm thinking Red Velvet and Vanilla varieties.

The only things I really don't like are Parsnips and Turnips so if anyone can let me know if they'll be in a dish I would much appreciate it as they do make me feel rather unwell.

Footage wise, I'm happy to go with the flow. If you want me to bring anything specific, please let me know. I have all Backstreet DVD's and I will of course be bring my external hard drive.

Yeah, it's fairly quick but I'm usually completely exhausted after a day trip so I think I'll prefer not to cook one of those days. Maybe Monday?

Although she cannot come this year, I nominate Mette for editing! Also, my iPhone does have pretty decent video (its a 4, so HD video), so I could help with that :)

I am randomly picky when it comes to food, but I have survived the previous years, so I'm sure I'll be fine this year as well. And I can help out in the kitchen when needed as well :)

What's the absolute latest I should be aiming to arrive on Tuesday? Even if I work all day and finish at 5.30 I should be able to get to you by 7pm at the latest, is that ok... ?

That should be fine. The meal starts at 8pm, so as long as you get here in time for that, we're good.

I suggest drinking to unconsciousness before it starts :-)

We need to check how many people haven't seen it yet, because the Directory's Commentary really needs you have seen the film first, I think. Otherwise, definitely, yes.

KC can't make it this year, so we have no reader for the Lava Lamp story. I guess this means I'll be nominating a lucky volunteer....
