A Timetable Type Post
May. 14th, 2011 05:47 pmI thought it might be useful to clarify what we're likely to be doing at Camp. No doubt some of the details need to be refined - more suggestions for any of the activities are very welcome, and please volunteer for chef duty when you think it works for you. I'll edit the post as people sign up. Remember, it takes a *long* time to cook for seventeen people, so it's probably ideal if people who aren't going on the outings do the cooking on those evenings, if possible.
As far as I remember,
chalcopyrite and
ephemera are vegetarians,
turlough is trying to avoid gluten, and
trumpeterofdoom does not eat beef. Anyone else have dietary needs to be considered?
Suggestions for activities and discussion topics welcomed! Also, requests for footage. What about evening watching? I'll compile a list of requests and add it to this post.
Camp Schedule!
Friday evening
Dinner:
pensnest Pies and Death Cake
Footage? Requests in comments!
Saturday
Talky time: discussion of
(morning) How has our fandom changed since Camp began?
(afternoon) Writing stuff:
Suggestions so far are:
- How Are The Stories You Like To Write & The Ones You Like To Read Similar, And How Are They Different?
- how one goes about world-building.
- how we go about our SeSa assignments
- bulletproof kinks in stories - what grabs you even in a not-very-good story?
- what don't you like about your own writing, and can anyone advise on how to change it?
Sunday
Outing to Hardwick Hall
Dinner:
Monday
A games day? Hot tubbing and general natter? Footage as determined by whoever has some/makes the right requests? Preparation and decoration of sparkly gingerbread dancing boys?
Dinner:
chalcopyrite, pudding by
pensnest
Tuesday
Outing to Sudbury Hall and the National Museum of Childhood
Return in time to get ourselves smartened up a bit for
pre-dinner cocktails (yes? no?)
and
nopseud's Birthday Feast
Wednesday
Possible outing to Nottingham or York? Alternatively, Camp Sparkle Cribs! (Does anyone have a video recorder?)
Dinner: probably
ninjetti75
Thursday
Possible outing to Nottingham or York? Alternatively, Camp Sparkle Cribs! (Does anyone have a video recorder?)
Dinner: probably Leftovers and Pizza (etc)
Friday
Departure, woe!
Note: I am happy to produce cheesecake on any of the days we don't have an Outing involving the minibus, so if you don't fancy making dessert but will happily do Dinner, let me know.

Date: 2011-05-14 05:10 pm (UTC)Diet things, I only like chicken meat wise, but that's a preference more than anything so no allowances need to be made.
Also, my cooking skills remain low, but I am happy to assist anyone that wants me.

Date: 2011-05-14 05:22 pm (UTC)I'll volunteer to cook Monday night (experimenting with cooking a night when I'm NOT out on a Sparkly Outing)! I can haul out Generic Pasta Sauce and Salad again, or I could probably manage something along the lines of a chicken/veggie stirfry & rice, though I'll need input on amounts for that.
Ceremonial viewing of Harry+Max? ::ducks and covers::

Date: 2011-05-14 08:05 pm (UTC)I think we should have Rocky Horror-style responses for Harry and Max. Or possibly some kind of drinking/sugar consumption game. Perhaps we should view it with Director's Commentary this time?

Date: 2011-05-14 06:41 pm (UTC)Diet things - I am pretty easy except that I don't like cheese. Pizza or lasagna or something like that is fine and yummy, but if the cheese is the/a main flavour, I probably won't like it. (I can just make myself a sandwich in that case, though!)
Also, I think Pirates of the Caribbean 4 starts next week - would there be any interest in watching it together?

Date: 2011-05-14 07:47 pm (UTC)I could also volunteer to make some cupcakes one afternoon if that would be something people were interested in? I'm thinking Red Velvet and Vanilla varieties.
The only things I really don't like are Parsnips and Turnips so if anyone can let me know if they'll be in a dish I would much appreciate it as they do make me feel rather unwell.
Footage wise, I'm happy to go with the flow. If you want me to bring anything specific, please let me know. I have all Backstreet DVD's and I will of course be bring my external hard drive.

Date: 2011-05-15 01:36 pm (UTC)I have a recipe for a chicken and vegetable dish. It's fairly easy to prepare and since the chicken comes in last there's no problem making a vegetarian version and/or substituting the chicken for something else. It's also gluten-free.
There's also "Papa a la huancaina", boiled potatoes with a creamy cheese-chili sauce, which is the prefered food in Peru for feeding many people at a birthday, but it's more of a snack. I would recommend using this as starter (unless nobody wants a starter), since that's really a typical Peruvian dish. It's vegetarian but probably not gluten-free since it uses crackers - unless those are gluten-free, of course. And I'd need a blender for this, I can't remember if there was one at the house.
I'm also undecided on going to Nottingham or York (right now I'm tending toward Nottingham yes, but York no) so I'm not sure about a date...
Watching-weise I do not have preferences, but if you could wait with The Reel NSync until I'm there on Saturday, I'd love you forever. I wouldn't want to miss this.

Date: 2011-05-16 04:30 am (UTC)Volunteering myself up to be a kitchen minion, but I did bring 3 boxes of the Japanese curry mix I used last year just in case anyone wanted some to bring home.
My harddrive (and all the requisite BSB and *NSYNC footage) and I are in the UK. All is well. \o/
