Camp 2014!

Camp Sparkle next year will take place on 13th - 20th June.

*pause for cheering*

A very early warning: it will probably be a really good idea to make sure that you get to my place or to nopseud's place in time to be ferried to Camp by car or minibus. We have investigated the train service, and it is certainly possible to get there from (say) London by train, but it will cost you. The fares are a bit of a morass, but could easily be as much as £100 for a Friday-Friday return, although more in the region of £35 to get there on a Saturday and £35 to get back on a Friday morning. There might be coaches (probably to Chester), but the minibus will be way more fun.

I'll post in a bit more detail in the new year, unless anyone is being *really* efficient and wants to get stuff booked right away. Meanwhile, you can look forward to Many Welsh Castles, the Seaside, Chester, Portmeirion, and other treats. And a serious Party House!

Wels castles, Portmeiron, the seaside, yay!! And this garden looks very nice.

(I've investigated and EasyJet flies from Copenhagen to Manchester so I might go for that alternative next year.)

Consult nopseud about the Manchester option! And that garden looks like an excellent place to put on the visit list. Very handy.

My mum recommended Bodnant.

She was also very enthusiastic about this slate mine. That's at Blaenau Ffestiniog, which is linked by a steam railway down to near Portmerion, so maybe they could be combined into a day trip.

Oooh, we must take the Blaenau Ffestiniog steam railway! That week it will be almost exactly 30 years since I first visited the UK (6-19 June 1984) and one of the things I did back then was to use that to get from the southern Welsh railway to the northern one.

As flights get more expensive the closer a date gets I would appreciate it if we had times of when to be where at what time to catch the minibus as soon as possible so flights can be booked :)
