Get out your Diaries
May. 27th, 2006 04:24 pmRight, then, you can ink it in. Barring catastrophe, Camp Sparkle will start on Friday 16th March 2007. Yay!
For the moment,
nopseud and I are trying to work out approximately what it will cost. We'll start asking for actual bookings when we can give you a clear idea. Remember, though, the more people we have in our fancy cottage-with-hot-tub, the cheaper it'll be for us all - and the more sparklyfolk you'll be able to meet in the utterly fabulous flesh. So feel free to pimp the Grand Event, and this community, to anyone you'd like to see there.
Meanwhile, just to get you thinking ahead - one of the (many) possibilities under consideration is boyband-themed food. So what kind of foodstuffs are 'boyband-themed', in your opinion?

Date: 2006-05-27 06:07 pm (UTC)Um. Peanut butter, because Kevin and Brian keep on professing their love for it. Uh. AJ's obsessed with Krispy Kreme original white glaze doughnuts. French toast? Mwahahahaha.

Date: 2006-08-14 12:34 am (UTC)Mkay, as I'm flailing all about in both good AND bas ways about my flight plans for SparkleCon in October, I've been wondering if CampSparkle is actually possible for me.
And I believe perhaps it is.
SO, what can y'all tell me? I know the date & locale are set, which is helpful, but, like, which airport is closest, when would I want my flight there to be arriving, how the HELL do I get from the airport to the place itself, etc etc etc? Once I have some ideas along these lines I'll be able to look into purchasing a flight, and that will for the most part determine whether or not I can attend.
*waves madly at all the English girls*

Date: 2006-08-14 12:49 am (UTC)Okay, went back and saw that it looks like Birmingham is the airport I want? Arriving on the 16th and leaving on the 19th?
Is over $650.
That's, uh, a
lotfair amount of money. Not that I expected a trip overseas to be cheap or anything, but that's still a fair amount for just airfare alone. How much more do I need to be looking at spending, in terms of cost of the hotel-thingie, food, etc?I think I can make it, but it's gonna take budgeting starting NOW, and heaven forfend anything come up in the way of medical bills or car or house repair, fun crap like that. actually, I'm not sure I can make it, but I REALLY REALLY want to, so we'll see what happens...

Date: 2006-08-14 07:22 am (UTC)The actual weekend will be the least of your problems, cash-wise, at least, we very much hope so. At the moment, it *looks* like £65 per head, or less - the more people we get, the less it costs. That's accommodation and food and entertainment, for the whole weekend. Alcohol will be BYO. However, we don't get confirmation on the actual price of the cottage until October or November, sigh. It *should* be within calculation, but we wanna be sure before we tell everyone what they'll have to pay.
We may - no guarantees at the moment, but there's a possibility - be able to offer very cheap transport from London to Ludlow. So you could investigate flights to London airports as well, which might possibly be cheaper. Or indeed, check through to see who's likely to be attending, and who might be able to give you a ride there. And, I don't know how much vacation time you may have, but if you take a little extra time here you won't be as jet-lagged for the weekend, and might have a chance to see a bit more of the UK. You'd just have to decide who you want to stay with...
I'll keep my fingers crossed that the money works out right!
