Camp Sparkle 2012

Pen and I have been looking at properties for Camp Sparkle 2012. Our current front-runner is The 1908 Lodge Wing 1 near Portsmouth.

There's plenty to do in the Portsmouth area, the house looks very nice, and it's reasonably convenient in terms of airports. The only slight drawback is that it sleeps a maximum of 19. However, we haven't gone over 20 at Camp for the last few years.

Pen and I wanted to put up a poll to decide when we should book. Our choice is between the last half of March, or the last half of April (Easter falls in the first two weeks of April next year). There is a reasonable difference in price between the two, with March being £1900 and April £2500. The weather is likely to be better in April, but obviously this is Britain, so we can't guarantee the weather in any month. :-)

I'm hearing things about NKOTBSB touring the UK in April/May, so I'm afraid I can't commit to any of the above options until they announce it. /o\

Ooh! How firm is that? It would be epic if we could arrange a Camp Sparkle concert trip! :-)

Pretty firm, they were due to announce it soon but then the London riots got in the way. Whatever it is, it HAS to be before May because after that all possible venues are taken up by the Olympics. I'm following their concert promoter on twitter, there's some rumblings of it going to Spain as well apparently.

Whatever it is, I most probably won't be able to make it for Camp unless it's immediately before or after the tour. I'm quite determined to go on tour with them next year in the UK. I'll still drop by and see all the Brits though!

Interesting. I wasn't planning to bother with the NKOTBSB, but if we can manage it a Camp trip, that would be a different kettle of boybanders :-) Let me know if any firm dates show up.

Just had a look, it's approx 80 miles (2hr drive) up the A3 to get to the O2 Arena. *ponders*

That would be awesome! I think we should definitely wait for a little while to see if there's anything in the way of NKOTBSB dates. A Camp Sparkle trip to a show has always been one of my dreams :-)

I agree - it'd be enormous fun if we could all go together, and enormously disappointing if we missed it by ten days or something.

Still don't know if I'll be employed full time and if so, will I be able to take a week off. But March and April are equally good/bad. No guarantees, but I'll do my best to make it. (Also, will know a lot more about the employment situation in approx. two weeks.)

OMG, the house looks awesome! If for some reason more than 19 people turn up, I volunteer to sleep on an air mattress. I'm sure we can fit one somewhere. :)

March would be much better for me (work and husband's deployment) but I'll have to work out what to do with Lego as 220 miles one-way isn't really doable for a day-trip unfortunately. I shall have to wait on dates and work it out from there but I definitely can't do after the second week in April as a certain someone is due back home then :)

As it stands right now, March or April are both equally good/bad, since my job situation is sketchy right now as well. :/

Unless there's, like, a major disaster of some kind, I should definitely be able to come this time. I have a job so I can save money, and I can easily get the time off since I only work three days a week anyway and constantly have overtime piling up. :)

It looks like they no longer offer the house to let. Whether it's a mistake on the page at the moment, or they've sold the place, I don't know. I'll e-mail them to find out.
