Hi All
With our vehicles reduced to a mere ONE, we will need to give some thought to whether we want to do any touring outside the city of Bath. So this is a post to give us all a chance to think about how we are going to entertain ourselves while we are at Camp.
1. Things to Do In Bath that are Obvious
Roman Baths
The modern bathing/spa facilities: Thermae Spa
Costume Museum
Bath tourist bus tour
The Abbey
chalcopyrite's Architectural Tour, ending at No 1 Royal Crescent (see comments)
What else belongs in this category, for the benefit of those who weren't with us last year? I mean, I know I missed a lot of stuff! Comment with suggestions and I will add them in.
2. Things to Do in Bath that are Less Obvious
James Street Brewery Tour - at midday or 6pm, 30 min tour and ale tasting session
https://www.thebathbrewhouse.com/brewery/
Glass blowing with Bath Aqua Glass
Demonstrations Mon - Fri at 11.15am and 2.15pm
Bauble blowing sessions - we could do this early in the week if people are interested
https://www.bathaquaglass.com/activitieslist.html#bbblowing
nb the studio is Very Close to the Excellent Yarn Shop With The Red Setter.
Boat trip
they have a selection of boat trips and boat+walking tours, take a look
eg 80-min boat and walking tour From £16, or lunchtime river trip including pub stop for lunch
or short boat trip to Pulteney Weir
https://riveradventures.co.uk/
Herschel Museum of Astronomy open 1 - 5pm every day
19 New King Street
https://herschelmuseum.org.uk/
Bath on the Beach!
a tropical slice of the Caribbean in Bath, open from 14th June
https://www.bathonthebeach.co.uk/
Live Escape Games!
Something I've been meaning to do for a while at home in Norwich
Take a look at http://bathescape.co.uk/ and if there is enthusiasm we could get a group or two together
Bizarre Bath walking tour
How could I forget this? It's an evening walking tour, about 90 minutes long but apparently we are not walking for all that time. Beast and I did it years ago and it was great fun.

Bath Soft Cheese Company
It’s a farm and I think you can watch the cows and cheese getting made and also eat cheese

iconis has suggested:
Spider-Man: Far From Home
and going to see the Apollo 11 documentary on the 20th, which is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing!
Has anyone discovered anything else that you'd like to share?
3. Afternoon Tea
I assume we all want to keep up our usual tradition, yes?
In that case, can some brave soul(s) volunteer to scout out a nice place where we can all go for our Afternoon Tea?
Saba has this sorted! We just need to figure out which day to go.
I think semi-traditionally we've done Afternoon Tea on Thursday, which means that supper can be leftovers or takeaway, depending on who has capacity for what.
That does leave out both Chalcopyrite and Ephemera, who're leaving a bit early - so, any advance on Thursday? nb I have just booked some bauble blowing places for Monday, which may make that day impractical.
4. Do we want to go beyond Bath?
There are buses to Bristol which only take about an hour, and Bristol has much to offer. I personally recommend the 'We The Curious' set-up by the harbourside, which is a fun, interactive science museum. But the place has a lot of history and much to do.

If we want to visit a stately home, we could look into hiring a minibus for a day or two (or a car, depending on how many people would want to go on the trip). We'd share the cost of the hired vehicle between everyone going on the trip.
These two look good:
Stourhead - Palladian house and world-famous landscape garden
Garden open from 9am, house from 11am-1630
Adult £17.50 plus £4 car parking
https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/stourhead
Tyntesfield Victorian Gothic house with excellent gardens
Garden from 10 am, house from 11am
Adult £16.50
https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/tyntesfield
My own inclination is to say, we can do so much in Bath itself that we can survive Camp for a year without a big Outing. However, I'm perfectly happy to drive somewhere if that's the general consensus!
Have a think, and a chat in comments.
